Preliminary assessment of microplastic pollution in commercial freshwater fish species collected from four districts in Bac Ninh province

Microplastics (MPs) are of emerging widespread concern, but amount research done in freshwater environments and organisms is scarce compared to that marine environments. Thus, the MPs identification four fish at districts Bac Ninh province were documented, including common carp (Cyprynus carpio), grass (Ctenopharyngodon idella), tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), red-tilapia sp.). found gastrointestinal tracts (GIT) 100% examined fish. abundances have significant differences between all collected from ponds local markets (except for red-tilapia), while no difference by individual each species neither pond nor markets. The median sizes microplastics ranged 1410 µm 2706 µm. dominated purple color (in with average 38%; market 33%). µ-FTIR analysis showed polymers GIT mainly polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene nylon. These results was widely ingested help aware people which more contaminated human consumption province.
